About the Role

There is an amazing opportunity to work within the Cultural and Community Hub team, providing strong technical experience for performances, events and functions. Our team is undergoing significant growth, including a range of building developments and new programs within the Drum Theatre and new community hubs. We are looking for experience technical staff, who have supervisory experience to supervise the team during shows.

The Theatre and Function Technician (inc Supervisory) will work with our Technical Productions and Operations team, within the Creative and Engaged City Department.

Your primary purpose in this position is to provide high-quality and efficient technical experience to all bookings, performances and shows, while supervising other staff and back of house functions.

The role involves:

· Supervising technical and theatre function staff, including upskilling and teaching where required

· Carry out lighting or sound duties including rigging, focusing and patching.

· Carry out staging and mechanical tasks including set construction, painting, flying and associated paperwork.

· Assist with bump ins, bump outs or maintenance for equipment

The Theatre and Function Technician (inc Supervisory) supports community groups and other hirers in delivering their events while working closely with the Venue Experience and Bookings teams to ensure all aspects of event setup and facility maintenance are handled efficiently.

About You

The successful applicant will have a passion for working with the community and be excited to be apart of our journey as the Community and Cultural venues grow and develop.

You will need to address the Key Selection Criteria including;

· Demonstrated experience in the technical operation of a live theatre or performing arts centre

· Demonstrated operational skills in Theatre Lighting, Sound & Staging

· Demonstrated ability to supervise support technical staff

· Well developed interpersonal skills and customer focused communication

· Demonstrated capacity to work within small and flexible team environment

· Demonstrated ability to work productively with amateur organisations, amateur production and technical personal to develop skills and encourage enthusiasm

· Effective written and oral communication skills

· Demonstrated ability to use a variety of MS software and Theatre Lighting and sound equipment and software
