Volunteering makes a positive difference in Greater Dandenong – all while having fun, making friends, learning new skills and gaining a sense of achievement.

Volunteering with the City of Greater Dandenong provides you with an opportunity to share your time, talents and abilities in a supported and professional environment.

You are sure to find something of interest and you can volunteer a little or a lot.

Find out more about Volunteering at Council on our corporate website.

School work experience

During work experience, you’ll spend your time with people who are passionate and committed to providing services and support to people who live, work and play in Greater Dandenong.

We have limited opportunities in the following areas:

Who can apply?

We embrace diversity so encourage applications from secondary students of all abilities and diverse backgrounds.

We try to support as many Year 9 or Year 10 secondary school students as possible. This can sometimes be difficult because we have limited availability and demand for places can be high so we give preference to students who live in our city.

To apply, please send your details including the dates you would like work experience to:

Work Experience Coordinator
City of Greater Dandenong
PO Box 200, Dandenong 3175

You’ll be paid the current minimum payment of $5 per day.

Work Placements

If you are a senior student who wants to learn about and make a real difference to a community, you should apply for a work placement with us.

We know that providing work placements to senior students benefits everyone. You can apply your knowledge and skills in real situations, and we can help you make a successful leap from study to work. We also enjoy the enthusiasm and fresh ideas you can bring.

To apply, please send your details including the dates you would like to work with us along with your learning goals to:

Work Placements Coordinator
City of Greater Dandenong
PO Box 200, Dandenong 3175

Due to the high demand for our placements, we may not be able to satisfy every request but will try to place as many students as possible.
