About the role
Reporting to the Coordinator Project Management Office, this newly created position plays a pivotal role in strengthening the planning, governance and delivery of Council’s Capital Works Program. The role has been established to support the growing scale and complexity of Council’s project portfolio, enhance consistency in project management practices and provide dedicated leadership to build a high‑performing team.
To ensure Council continues to deliver high‑quality infrastructure and services to the community, the primary objectives of the Team Leader Project Management Office are to:
Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of Council Project Management Framework (PMF) to provide consistency across planning, delivery, reporting, and governance of projects, for both Capital and Operational Projects.
About you
You are an experienced project management leader with a strong understanding of project management frameworks, governance and reporting, and a proven ability to deliver or oversee complex capital projects. You communicate with confidence, build strong relationships and provide clear, steady direction to your team. With professionalism, integrity and a positive can‑do attitude, you proactively resolve issues and help drive high‑quality project outcomes within a dynamic local government environment.
To
be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and
understanding of the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management, or equivalent, together with significant relevant experience. Relevant experience should include:
- Demonstrated understanding and practical application of project management frameworks, governance, reporting and controls.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering and/or overseeing a portfolio of capital and/or complex projects within a local government or similarly complex organisational environment.
- Strong and effective leadership capacity to direct and influence a diverse range of projects to achieve agreed outcomes.
- Business and political acumen to monitor and manage sensitive and confidential issues within a Local Government context.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication, presentation, negotiation, problem solving, conceptual thinking and conflict resolution.
- A positive ‘can-do’ approach which incorporates professionalism, ethical standards, and integrity.
