About the role
Due to the recent expansion of Council’s Project Delivery & Project Management Office, we our growing our Building Projects team to strengthen our capability and expertise in delivering projects efficiently and to the highest standards. The Building Projects Team plays a critical role in planning, managing, and delivering large-scale commercial projects (valued at $10m+) that enhance community facilities and services.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to join us as a Team Leader Building Projects. Reporting to the Coordinator Building Projects, you will lead a small team to ensure the successful delivery of major building projects that align with Council’s strategic objectives.
The primary objectives of the position are to:
· Oversee all aspects of major building projects from inception to completion.
· Manage scope, contracts, contractors, budgets, timelines, and resources.
· Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
· Drive proactive issue resolution and maintain quality control.
· Engage with stakeholders and the community to deliver transparent and positive outcomes.
About you
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with the capability to lead the delivery of complex building projects from design through to handover. This role requires strong leadership, financial acumen, and contract management expertise to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:
· A relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction and/or Project Management, supported by significant relevant experience. Alternatively, lesser formal qualifications combined with extensive and diverse experience, or intensive specialist experience will be considered.
· Proven experience and skills in delivering projects within a Local Government environment.
· A proven successful track record in managing large-scale commercial projects (valued at $10m+) from concept design stage to final handover.
· Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting and reporting.
· Effective leadership skills to guide and influence diverse projects and teams towards achieving agreed outcomes.
· Business and political acumen to monitor and manage sensitive and confidential matters within a Local Government context.
· Highly effective interpersonal skills, including exceptional communication, negotiation, presentation, problem solving and conflict resolution.
· A proactive, positive and ‘can-do’ approach which incorporates professionalism, ethical standards, and integrity.
· A “White Card” or similar building related OH&S certification.
