About the role

Greater Dandenong City Council has an exciting opportunity for a Sustainability Planner to join the Sustainability Planning team based in Dandenong.

Ideally you will have strong communication and engagement skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with our team on a diverse portfolio of sustainability focused strategies, policies, programs and projects.

Your primary purpose in this position is to:

  • Assist with the implementation, development, monitoring and evaluation of Council’s key environmental strategies and policies
  • Educate and engage stakeholders both at a Council and community level to contribute to improved outcomes related to sustainability and climate change action.
  • Successfully deliver sustainability events and educational campaigns.
  • Ensure Environmentally Sustainable Design (ESD) measures are incorporated into statutory planning applications as well as Council’s own capital projects and work.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of sustainability planning, climate adaptation and mitigation, strategic environmental management or other related fields. Knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation principles, along with their practical application in the community, is essential. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must, as is the ability to collaborate within a close-knit team and work independently. Experience delivering strategic climate change and sustainability events. Experience with BESS, Green Star and NABERS will be viewed favourably.

Sustainability Planner Position Description - 160KB

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a current Victorian Drivers Licence, Working with Children's Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws.
