About the Role

Join a team that supports these industries and helps attract new investment to our city. As a Senior Economic Development Officer, you’ll play a key role in driving the department’s marketing and communications activities and lead projects that deliver growth and opportunity.

As a senior specialist, you will:

  • Support Marketing & Communication: Help implement the department’s marketing and communications strategy, including content development, brand management, digital engagement and campaign analysis and reporting.
  • Work in Partnership: Collaborate with the existing Senior Economic Development Officer (Marketing) to ensure cohesive marketing and communications for the department, including managing e-newsletters, social media channels, and brand initiatives, while taking the lead on business and employment projects.
  • Support Growth & Investment: Work closely with the Growth and Investment team to develop and implement campaigns to build Council’s reputation as a great place to live, work, visit, invest and do business.
  • Engage Industry: Build relationships through site visits, stakeholder meetings, and networking, and support the planning and delivery of business network events and other engagement activities.
  • Provide Insights: Monitor market trends and gather economic intelligence to inform strategic projects.
  • Collaborate Across Council: Work closely with Council’s Media and Communications team to ensure consistent branding and high-quality campaigns.

About You

  • Proven experience in marketing, communications, and brand strategy, ideally within an economic development or business context.
  • Experience working in an economic development team or a strong understanding of the sector and its role in supporting local business and investment.
  • Strong writing and creative skills to develop compelling content and implement campaigns.
  • Event coordination experience to support business engagement activities
  • Strong research and analytical skills to provide actionable insights on industry trends and campaign results.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and networking skills, with the ability to foster partnerships and drive collaboration.
  • Project management expertise and the ability to deliver initiatives on time and within budget.
  • Tertiary qualifications in business, marketing, communications, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
