About the role

The City of Greater Dandenong currently has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our Building Projects Unit within the Project Delivery & Project Management Office Department. The Project Delivery & Project Management Office Department is responsible for delivering the annual capital works program which includes a wide range of civil, open space and building projects.
The objective of the position is to actively contribute to the successful delivery of Building Projects, by effectively managing the scope of projects, contract requirements, contractors, budget and funding, quality controls, targets and timelines, resourcing, reporting, community input and feedback, issues resolution and achievement of high-quality outcomes.
About you
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex building projects from design through to handover. The role requires strong leadership, sound financial management skills, and contract expertise to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard of quality.
To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the following:
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Project Management or equivalent qualifications along with significant subsequent relevant experience Proven experience and skills in delivering projects within a Local Government environment.
- A proven successful track record in managing and delivering major commercial projects from concept design stage to final hand over, including extensive experience in delivering building projects combined with a thorough understanding of Community consultation processes.
- A positive ‘can do’ approach which incorporates business acumen, professionalism, ethical standards and integrity and an understanding of the long term goals of Council, its values and aspirations and the legal and political context in which it operates in order to monitor and manage sensitive and confidential issues within a LG context.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills, incorporating verbal and written communication.
- A “White Card” or similar building related OH&S certification.
