About the role

The City of Greater Dandenong is seeking a Contracts Officer to support the planning, monitoring and coordination of contractor-delivered open space maintenance services across the municipality.

Reporting to the Coordinator City Presentation, this role will work closely with Team Leaders to ensure the quality and compliance of mowing, horticulture, and open space contracts. You’ll assist with the preparation of work orders, monitor contractor performance and service standards, and support the development of improved contract systems and processes.

This is a newly created role following a strategic service review and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing improvement of Council’s open space presentation and maintenance standards.

About you

You’re a detail-oriented professional with experience in contract administration, monitoring, or open space maintenance services. You have strong communication and organisational skills, enjoy working across teams, and are confident managing data, documentation and performance tracking.

You’re ready to step into a support role that plays a key part in ensuring Council’s open spaces are safe, well maintained and visually appealing for the community. You’re proactive, collaborative and eager to contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Key requirements:

· A formal qualification Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree in addition to the relevant experience, would be highly regarded.

· Demonstrated experience in parks management, horticulture or related discipline, with exposure to contract management processes, including monitoring and OH&S requirements.

· Demonstrated commitment to the principles of excellence in Customer Service with experience in monitoring, reporting on compliance to service standards

· Demonstrated well developed skills in oral and written communication, including the ability to effectively use computer software and systems including the Microsoft Office suite, in particular MS Outlook and MS Word, QGIS, GIS Map information systems.

· Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of specific Occupational Health & Safety practices and procedures applicable to the role, including risk minimisation strategies,

· Demonstrated understanding of diversity in the workplace and the community, as well as a commitment to ongoing professional development and education.
