About the role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Business Analyst to join our Digital Technology team on a 12-month contract.

This role is a key contributor to improving how Council operates by developing a deep understanding of current business processes and identifying opportunities to enhance productivity, efficiency and service outcomes.

You will work closely with business units across the organisation to map and analyse current processes, identify inefficiencies and risks, and support the design of improved ways of working. A strong focus of the role is ensuring processes are simplified, standardised and aligned to best practice, making future system upgrades easier, faster and lower risk.

The primary objectives of the role include:

  • Leading current-state process mapping and analysis across multiple business areas
  • Identifying opportunities for process optimisation, standardisation and productivity improvement
  • Facilitating workshops and engagement with stakeholders to redesign and improve processes
  • Providing evidence-based recommendations to support decision making
  • Documenting business processes, requirements and improvement opportunities to a high standard
  • Supporting a continuous improvement culture across the organisation
  • Ensuring processes are aligned to standard system capabilities, reducing the need for customisation in the future

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated knowledge and experience in:

  • Business analysis with a strong focus on process mapping, standardisation and continuous improvement
  • Capturing and documenting end-to-end current and future state processes, including systems and data flows
  • Using Nintex Process Manager (Promapp) to develop, maintain and publish clear, consistent process documentation
  • Facilitating workshops and working collaboratively with stakeholders across diverse business areas
  • Identifying inefficiencies and delivering practical, achievable process improvements aligned to best practice
  • Translating complex business needs into clear, structured documentation and actionable recommendations
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience working within local government or complex organisations, and an understanding of system capability vs customisation, will be highly regarded.

Please ensure you address the key selection criteria outlined in the position description as part of your application.

You may be required to undertake practical testing, work preference profiling / psychometric testing, functional capacity assessment (physical) or aptitude testing.

The successful candidate will be asked to produce a clear Working with Children Check and will be asked to consent to a national police check (and where relevant an ‘international criminal history check’), subject to the operation of spent conviction laws. Please note that people with criminal records are not automatically barred from applying for this position. Each application will be considered on its merits.
