The City of Greater Dandenong Parks Team is seeking a suitably qualified and enthusiastic Inspecting Arborist to join their Arboriculture Team. If you’re passionate about Trees, the Environment and making a difference to local communities then keep reading!

Reporting to the Senior Arborist, you will provide expert advice on a range of tree matters on behalf of Council, working to protect, grow and diversify Council’s tree population in line with our Urban Tree Strategy Greening Our City 2018 – 2028.

Your strong interpersonal skills, customer service focus and technical arboriculture knowledge will be key to your success in this dynamic, reactive and fast-paced role. With an emphasis on reactive and proactive tree inspections, resident consultation, contract management and support, OHS monitoring and auditing, quality auditing, timber refurbishing and streetscape renewals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Reactive and proactive tree inspections and subsequent consultation and work allocation.
  • Assess and approve contractor works programs, in consultation with Parks Team Leaders.
  • Monitor and administer in conjunction with Senior Arborist, programming of a quality and safety audits.
  • Develop planting programs for relevant sites, including appropriate tree selection in line with Council programs and policies.
  • Regular consultation with residents applying various methods of communication including, written communication, telephone and face to face communication.

Demonstrated experience in parks management, horticulture or related, and a formal qualification (e.g. Diploma or Certificate IV) would be highly regarded.
